Product

GRIND is creating a portable, more affordable basketball shooting machine that captures a player’s rebounds, passes the ball back (emulating a game-like pass), and allows players to shoot up to 1,200 shots per hour. Our Basketball shooting machine is designed to be affordable and portable. Built with a lightweight design that folds into the size of a large duffle bag maximizing the usability for athletes.

Role:

As an Industrial Designer at GRIND, you will help create products and experiences that have a powerful and inspiring impact on athletes.

 

Relevant experience:

  • Preferred Senior or recent grad. (not mandatory)

  • Experience in designing physical products

  • Ability to gather research data and translate it into a design strategy

  • User-Centered Design at the core of your process

  • Ability to generate ideas quickly without a lot of background information or parameters

  • Fluid in material research and mechanical functionalities

  • Experience working with various metals, plastics, and manufactured processes

Your Tasks:

  • Build and test functional & visual prototypes by following a user-centered design process.

  • Concrete Design Strategy (evp/concept map/product road map)

  • Hands on rapid prototyping

  • ITERATE - TEST - ITERATE - TEST

  • Conduct/Record User Testing

  • Generate creative ideas, openings, and closings for a durable, easy to use product.

  • Cut, Sew, Glue, Stitch, Screw, 3D print, CNC

  • Source Materials

  • Install Zippers/Fasteners/Clips

  • Prototype / Finalize Compression Moldings

  • Iterate and guide products through manufacturing stage.

  • Strong projects/products and interesting challenges with unique solutions.

  • Design process - research strategy, concept generation, iterations, sketches, ect.
